Barcamp Beckons
Four days and counting, Barcamp Manchester UK is almost upon us, time to write talks, prepare slides, shuffle contact cards and take a shave!
As a Barcamp virgin, I don't know quite what to expect other than what I've read on the Barcamp Manchester Wiki
"You turn up with a talk, you fight for a place on the board, and then you get on with it."
Really? People fight to stand up in front of other people and speak out loud? Scary stuff!

Another Great Evening
We had another great evening on Wednesday at North West Drupal User group with some new faces appearing from as far away as Leeds. Steve very graciously offered to do his presentation another time as it seemed more appropriate to break into small groups and do some hands on Drupal Q&A
So all in all the group is going from strength to strength! Thanks to Steve who wrote some kind words about his first visit and to everyone who came along.
Views - Filtering Nodes by Date
Quite often you need to display a list of nodes filtered by a date. A common scenario is you'll have an "events" content type and you only want to display events that haven't already taken place.
So you've created your content type and added a date field using CCK. Your view is set up to filter on "event_date is greater than or equal to now()". This should work just fine, if in your event_date field settings, you've included hour, minute and second granularity.
